The basic idea in the Montessori philosophy of education is that all children carry within themselves the person they will become. In order to develop physical, intellectual, and spiritual potential to the fullest, the child must have freedom- a freedom to be achieved through order and self-discipline. The world of the child, say the Montessori educators, is full of sights and sounds which, at first, appear chaotic. From this chaos children must gradually create order, learn to distinguish among the impressions that assail their senses, and slowly but surely gain mastery of themselves and the environment.
Dr. Montessori has recognized that the only valid impulse to learning is the child's self-motivation. Children move themselves toward learning. The directress prepares the environment, directs the activity, and offers the child stimulation; but it is the child who learns, who is motivated through work itself (not solely by the teacher's personality) to persist in a given task. If Montessori children are free to learn, it is because they have acquired an "inner discipline" from their exposure to both physical and mental order. This is the core of Dr. Montessori's philosophy. Patterns of concentration, "stick-to-itiveness" and thoroughness established in early childhood produce a confident and competent learner in later years. The Montessori program teaches children to observe, to think and to analyze. It introduces children to the joy of learning at an early age and provides a solid foundation for the rest of their lives.
Daisy Chains Krabi Montessori is a private preparatory Montessori for girls and boys aged from 1.6 to 6 years. All the emphasis is placed on the individual child. Our aim is for each child to have freedom to grow in their own way and learn by experience.
Daisy Chains Krabi Montessori is organised in such a way as to give children the opportunity to choose Montessori materials and the length of time they wish to work with them, in a carefully prepared environment. Here the child’s highest and noblest form of self-expression is work, which is that spontaneous activity by which they create for themselves. Each individual child will be given space and freedom to develop at their own pace. The emphasis will be on the total and broad development of the child’s intellectual, emotional, physical and social qualities.
At Daisy Chains Krabi Montessori each child will benefit from dedicated and qualified teachers. We provide a safe, stimulating and caring atmosphere in which the individual needs of each child can be met. We work closely with parents in the care and development of their child. We encourage each child to develop consideration and respect for other children, teachers and property and place an emphasis on maintaining excellent standards of hygiene. Our priority is the safety and well-being of your child.
We currently operate three classroom sessions, a Playgroup Class for children aged one and a half to 2 and a half years, a Junior Montessori Class for children aged 2 and a half to four year and a Primary Montessori Class for children aged four to six years.
Because traditional schooling generally groups children of just one age together, mixed age groups is a striking difference between Montessori and traditional educational programs.
The mixed age group environment creates an atmosphere where children learn to help and be helped by other children, because they interact consistently with children whose age and abilities are varied. Children gain an appreciation for their achievement and the accomplishments of others, and are naturally challenged by the achievements of others.
Older children learn to be patient and tolerant, and serve as role models and teachers for the younger children. When an older child teaches a younger one, it reinforces previously learned concepts and is an aid in complete mastery of concepts. Younger children learn about courtesy, manners and conflict resolution not only from their teachers, but also by watching the older children in the class.
Because teachers do not have to set the instruction pace by a whole group, each child is given the ability to learn at his or her own pace. This is a striking difference from traditional education, where everyone, for example, turns to a page of a book and stays there until every child understands the concept.
By staying in a classroom for a three-year period, children develop a strong sense of community and stability, with 2/3 of a class returning every year. This community aids the development of students as role models for one another.
Being in the same classroom year after year allows a teacher to truly learn each individual child’s learning abilities, style, and developmental level to better be able to set the learning agenda as well as build on strengths and work on weaknesses.
A wide and varied curriculum is offered to all children. Our dedicated specialised team of teachers use Montessori materials and teaching methods throughout all subjects.

I first met Joy from Ireland at the Nemo fish park being followed by a group of youngsters of all ages on a school field trip. I was with my then two year old daughter who sheepishly said 'hello'. We chatted for a bit and she told me about herself and the school she ran. We kept in touch and from that fateful meeting I was pretty sure I had found Ellie's first school and teacher.
One year later and my daughter has now been attending Joy's school Daisy Chains for two months and she loves it, if she could have her way the weekend wouldn’t exist.
Joy meets and greets the kids every day and is always available after school to discuss the day's events, I was extremely impressed with the relationship Joy has with the parents and the apparent trust they have in her and her school. After looking at all the other options, the only option for Ellie was Daisy Chains.
