What your child would actually be doing

This page removes more parental anxiety than any other on the site, which is why it is written in this much detail.

  1. 8:30

    Arrival

A teacher meets the children at the gate. Shoes off, bags away, and into the classroom in their own time.

  2. 8:45

    The work cycle begins

Children choose their own work and settle. A teacher gives individual and small-group lessons while the rest of the room works.

  3. 10:00

    Snack

Taken individually as children get hungry, rather than as a whole-class interruption — preparing and clearing it is part of the work.

  4. 10:30

    The work cycle continues

The longest stretch of uninterrupted concentration in the day, and the most important part of the morning.

  5. 11:45

    Group time

Songs, stories, Thai, and whatever the week’s theme happens to be.

  6. 12:00

    Lunch

A cooked meal, eaten together. Children serve themselves, pour their own water and clear their own places.

  7. 12:45

    Rest and quiet

The youngest children sleep. Older children rest, look at books, or work quietly.

  8. 13:45

    Outdoors

The garden — climbing frame, swings, slide, ride-ons, and gardening. Every day the weather allows.

  9. 14:30

    Activities

Cooking, music, art, yoga or swimming, depending on the day.

  10. 15:15

    Tidy and gather

The room is put back together by the children who used it.

  11. 15:30

    Collection

We are at the gate again, and will tell you about the day if you have a minute for it.

Half-days and drop-ins. Not every child does the full day. Half-day places finish after lunch, and drop-in sessions are available on request — useful for families in Krabi for a few weeks.
